Description

Erect stems grow from a whitish to purplish base. The panicle is dense, narrow, and has eight to twelve spikelets. The color of the panicle varies from green to purple to white. The glumes are nearly equal in length-about 5/32 inch. The plant often has a sour odor.

White tridens is a perennial, warm-season, native - 12 to 36 inches tall.

Fair grazing for both livestock and wildlife.


Habitat

Grows on prairies, especially along ditches and roadsides.
